New in the ArcGIS Platform!

As of December 2019, Esri unleashed updates and the latest versions of the following: AppStudio for ArcGISArcGIS QuickCaptureWeb AppBuilder for ArcGIS, and Collector for ArcGIS.

App Studio

Esri has released this December 2019, AppStudio Player 4.1. This latest release contains many new features and enhancements that can significantly improve your app testing and distributing experience. 

You can download the latest Player from the Apple App Store or Google Play store. 

Among the key enhancements are: 

  • New app user mode – streamlines Player to focus on download and running apps 
  • Support for App Links (Beta) – by supporting app links, you can now open Player through an https URL on both iOS and Android versions 
  • Redesigned app update experience  you can now access app updates on the Home page and receive notifications when there are local apps with pending updates 
  • Update local apps automatically – Player can now update local apps automatically 
  • New samples and updated template in the Samples page – 3 new samples – GNSS discover, Coordinate Converter, and Document Dialog – have been added

ArcGIS QuickCapture

This December, Esri released ArcGIS QuickCapture 1.3. This latest version has been updated across all supported platforms. Some of the highlights of the QuickCapture 1.3 are: 

  • Sharing QuickCapture projects – With the latest release, ArcGIS Hub Premium customers can now share QuickCapture projects publicly. This is useful got crowdsourcing or community engagement initiatives. 
  • New Features to the QuickCapture designer – Some of these are: [1] continuous mode for point features;  [2] ability to configure photos with buttons; [3] 
  • Miscellaneous fixes and enhancements – designer enhancements; mobile app; etc.

Web App Builder for ArcGIS

This December, Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS just got updated. The December release of Web AppBuilder adds useful enhancements to several widgets.

Notable enhanced widgets are:

  • Add Data Widget - you can now add a WFS OGC service via a URL or via an item referencing the service in addition to WMS OGC web services.
  • Group Filter Widget – you can now hide the header and be able to filter selection if only one group is configured as well as can add custom header text to describe what the filter is.
  • Near Me Widget -
  • Threat Analysis Widget - you can now define your own threat types and associated evacuation distances.

COLLECTOR FOR ARCGIS

Following the last update in October 2019, Collector for ArcGIS has been updated again this  January 2020 bringing more exciting new features. 

Collector v20.1.0 now includes the following: 

  • Snapping to existing features 
  • Update form entries for multiple features simultaneously 
  • Reuse field entries between forms
  • Scan a code to sign in
  • View local tracks created using Tracker for ArcGIS 

If you are an Android user, the Collector Android release is coming soon as over 15,000 beta testers are still working on it.
