April marks the biggest leap in Esri’s story-telling tool with the launching of its next-generation storytelling tool, the “latest and greatest creation” – the ArcGIS StoryMaps Beta.

Esri’s Mark Harrow outlines some of the key features of the new StoryMaps in this video:

ArcGIS StoryMaps Beta is the product of many months of research, planning, testing, and development by Esri StoryMap team. For the lessons and other experiences that drove the Esri Story Map team adopted in creating the next-gen ArcGIS StoryMaps Beta, read Allen Carroll’s blog, “A Quantum Leap For Story Maps”

Some of the key new features are:

  • A unified builder where you can be able to mix and match all the various experiences from the classic templates in a single place.
  • New design tools to refine the look and feel of your story in just one click.
  • A new mapmaking took that lets you create simple maps in minutes – Express Maps.
  • New publishing workflows including autosave and the ability to make changes to a shared story but only publish them when you are ready.
  • A completely redesigned mobile experience that minimizes load times and maximizes delightful reading.

We invite you to try the Beta to see for yourself just how different the new ArcGIS StoryMaps Beta is. Since it is still in the Beta phase, this means the next-gen ArcGIS StoryMaps is not feature complete just yet. The Beta is open to the public – specifically, anyone with a Creator license.
