Good news for urban planners, animators, etc. as Esri just released CityEngine 2017.0.
CityEngine 2017.0 comes in with many cool and exciting new features, among which are the following:
- Scenario-based Planning & Customizable Dashboards – CityEngine 2017.0 introduces scenario concept where you can create multiple design alternatives, and compare and edit scenarios in side-by-side window views.
- Local Edit Tool for Procedural Models - CityEngine 2017.0 allows you to apply local edits to a procedural model; make changes to specific structural features or changing usage types per floor without affecting the entire procedural model.
- Measure Tools – CityEngine 2017.0 allows you to measure distances, heights, areas, and paths with new interactive tools like “laser lines” that allow you to see the elevation of a building relative to all the other objects in the scene.
- New Sleek UI – CityEngine 2017.0 presents a completely revamped graphical UI and improves support for high-DPI displays allowing for larger UI elements and fonts at high resolutions.
- Enhanced CGA Queries – CityEngine 2017.0 has a shape grammar language CGA which features context operations to query the neighborhood of a shape and make advances occlucion queries.
- Improved Import and Export Fucnctionalities – CityEngine 2017.0 now provides enhanced support for several 3D import and export formats like Collada, KML, RenderMAN, etc.
