November 15 is GIS Day!

And in the Philippines, Manila Water is leading the celebration in the water sector and the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) in the power sector. Both companies have been rapidly digitally transforming their business models with Esri GIS technology.

Manila Water will be celebrating the event on November 27 with the theme “Engaging the Water Community Through GIS” with a series of activities at the MWSS Compound, Balara, Quezon City. Joining Manila Water are its subsidiaries like Laguna AAA Water Corp., Boracay Island Water Company, Clark Water Corp., Zamboanga Water Company Inc., Cebu Water Dev't., Inc., Manila Water Total Solutions Corporation, and Manila Water Foundation, Inc.

Manila Water’s GIS Day celebrations features booths and seminars to provide consumers, the public, students, etc. on how it is leveraging GIS technology in its water business, ranging from water distribution, sewerage management, etc. Manila Water will be supported by GEODATA SYSTEMS who will provide lectures and technical sessions on various features of the ArcGIS Platform like field data collection, the use of drones for inspection, the use of Story Maps to inform and educate consumers of Manila Water, etc.

Meanwhile, EDC is likewise celebrating GIS Day at their main office. The celebration is also meant to showcase the on-going digital transformation of EDC using GIS technology to its stockholders, clients and the general public. As part of the celebration, EDC is setting up various booths to demonstrate and showcase GIS technology application in the power sector and how EDC is leveraging GIS technology in its business model.
